2019 Season Preview

The Mustangs return the bulk of their starters from a team that went 5-1 in the West Suburban Gold and lost to Lyons in regionals. Karmik, a 5-foot-8 Wisconsin-Green Bay recruit, is a four-year varsity starter who has made huge improvements in her speed to the ball and her defense. Juerke and Dumford, both three-year starters, are big offensive threats. Juerke, 5-11, is a returning all-conference player and the 6-foot Dumford has the potential to play Division I volleyball but is instead opting to play soccer. Jones returns as a big threat on the pins for a Mustangs team that must pick up the slack of graduated star Lucy Dumford. Dempsey, in her first year on varsity, is a player to watch, and Toth expects transfer Sweeney to impact the Mustangs’ already strong back row.

“In the past, we relied heavily on Lucy Dumford to carry us, but we have offensive threats spread across the entire front row and feel we will be a more competitive team all around,” Toth said.
