2019 Season Preview

The DGS girls cross country team has experienced a long run of recent success. The team has won 20 consecutive WSC Gold titles, has qualified the team for state 8 years in a row, and finished in the top 5 at state each of the past 3 years. The 2019 season should not be any different. We are returning a very experienced senior-led team and we expect to challenge for a top 3 spot at State. All-State senior, Brenna Cohoon, along with seniors Erin Reidy and Kennedy Warden will lead the charge. These three have been part of our varsity top 5 state teams each of the past 3 seasons and certainly are motivated to continue that success. Rebecca Diddia (Jr) and Alex Spang (So) also return with state meet experience and we expect them, along with three sophomores (Kelsey Casella, Sophia McNerney, & Renee Kowalski) to also play important roles within our top varsity group. We also have a talented group of freshmen that may eventually contribute to the varsity team before the season ends. With 5 of our top 7 at State returning, we are very optimistic about what we are capable of. The team is currently ranked #2 in the state and #12 in the nation by some well-respected preseason polls.
